Well… its obvious to us the readers that Jackie hasn’t given up on the idea of superhero-ing… but who knows maybe she’ll become miss Melee’s super hero rival? Still this could go comically bad… which is a huge possibility given the lighthearted nature, or Jackie could get herself seriously hurt and we get a bit dark in the comic for a while…
Still could be good story no matter which way it goes.
Lying to your mother is never a good way to start…
Also, Mom, ask! Ask what your daughter is involved in, ask about her project. I’m not a parent, but I do know a few parenting rules, and “be involved” definitely hits the list.
But that would be the sensible thing to do that avoids a major disaster story arc. Something almost unheard of in stories.
Seriously. How MANY stories would have been five minutes long if that ONE person had just stopped and asked that ONE question?! …. sigh…
I’d say about 90% of them… maybe as low as 80%. There are some stories out there that wouldn’t have just that one person changing it, but they’re few and far between.
But hey, these stories like this one can still be enjoyable. Comedy is good too.
I’m not a parent, either, but I feel like you’re grossly oversimplifying the job. “Be involved” sure, but there are limits. No one likes having someone looking over their shoulder at all times, questioning everything they do. Did you never keep something from your parents?
“And then there was a third possibility that nobody had counted on.”
Jackie gets arrested.
Ms. Melee repeatedly catches her and comes to accept her daughter’s commitment.
We’ll hope for the possibility that doesn’t involve twenty-seven eight by ten color glossies with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one…
Or, failing that, a judge with a seeing-eye dog. ^_^
Well, nothing suspicious there! Nope, absolutely nothing.

I’m really interested in learning about Mr. Keng as I get the feeling that he’s the big bad of franchise.

Isn’t that gymnastics word balloon pointed at the wrong person?
It’s not pointed at anyone, it’s coming from out of frame.
😱
A teenager out of bed on time and not complaining?
…
Yeah, nothing suspicious here.
The face in her husband explains how good was the night with definitely-not-Miss-Melee.
After being spurned by Miss Melee, Jackie will no doubt become a villain. It’s The Incredibles all over again!
Excuse me, but I think you mean Iron Man 3.
Heh… This is starting to have a “Please don’t tell my parents I’m a Supervillian” vibe to it. (Dececent book series, btw) :).
And now you need to remember forever that MM’s favourite juice is pinapple.
For a super heroine, Melee sure is bad at noticing suspicious excuses!
