That’s some SERIOUS powers, actually – those fists turned cars into mush in one hit, and she shattered one of them in one blow (not to mention her own costume in the process).
So yeah, this definitely raises the power level this comic portrays. Unexpected (but makes the plot line here make MUCH more sense, as before, I kept pointing out how silly it was), but nice.
wow. This goes a long way to explain how she was able to succeed as a hero for so long. Against most foes she doesn’t need to pull out this Ace in the Hole, but she does have it for when an enemy has that extra level of power.
It also answers how she’s going to stand a chance against an advanced power suit.
From what I see in the illustration, her arm is fine. The costume, not so much, which illustrates handily why she does not go all out. The bills for costume repair and all those indecent exposure tickets would really add up quickly.
Check out the last panel again, specifically Melee’s face. She’s wincing. It may not be a severe injury, it may be just her (already cracked?) ribs jolting. Whatever it is, it’s a strain on her body; even a minor strain, repeated, could result in serious injury over time. Stress fractures, strained muscles & tendons, subdermal blood clots, even permanent bruises.
Hmm, a few pages back (page 5 of this issue): “She’s too strong. Unless I…”
Well, now we know what the “unless” was about. Interesting that we haven’t seen this power level from her before, but she apparently knew she had it in her. I suspect there is some significant drawback, such that she only pulls it out in pretty extreme emergencies.
But in terms of power level, this is something like “mid-Justice League” – that fist could smash monster holes in the pavement without a problem, and she just shattered it in one hit? Then SHE could put monster holes in the pavement even easier than it could… that’s “Captain America” strength, at least, if not noticeably more.
Those fists seem likely to be rated in the “punch holes in tanks” range (it is intended to be a true battle suit), which would put her punch WAY WAY WAY WAY out of the human-possible range.
YES! I was hoping Miss Melee had some Qi powers hidden up her sleeve ^_^
Hopefully Jackie won’t stop to fangirl over it before making her plan happen…
HA! She does have powers! Hell yeah!

DAYUM!
SABR didn’t expect this to be a SUPERPOWERED martial arts universe.
She probably hasn’t needed to use it since she went into semi-retirement to have a family. Good to know she hasn’t lost the touch. 🙂
The look on Sabr’s face…
That looks like it hurt Melee as much as it hurt SABR.
Yea that was probably a rude reminder for Jan. Looked like she may have pushed it a bit too hard.
I called it! Now, I have to wonder if there’s some draw back to using this technique.
Pain? Broken hand bones, torn arm and shoulder muscles?

I am intrigued! O.O
so she has the glow, but can she go full leroy green. [give yourself five points if you get that reference.]
Sho’ Nuff!
“I said, CAN YOU SHOW ME SOME MOVES?”
“Bruce” Leroy
Did not see that coming. Going to have to update Miss Melee’s entry over at superherofacts.org (that’s not a real website, I checked).
Achievement Unlocked: The Iron Fist is yours! WOOHOO!!!

Plan:
1) Force a re-arm.
Completed.
2) …? (So, what is Jackie up to now?)
We shall see…
Iron Fist eat your (dragon) heart out.
So basically she’s Iron Fist?
Iron Fist.
I really did not see that coming, but it explains how she could even consider taking on anyone in a hi-tech battle armor.
I really the the detail that bringing her chi into her fist destroyed her glove. Thats a nice touch on a couple of levels.
So she Does have something more than kung fu. neat.
Actually, it’s more like really really advanced kung fu. She did train under a semi-mystical Chinese master, after all.
