Err. An explosion is a rapid dispersal of material.
Sooo… yes, an explosion did happen, but No it was not her suit, it was the exhaust of the dropship.
The Strato-Armory did beam Sabr up during the flyby. A teleportation from up high wouldn’t have been good, what with Jan being between the Strato-Armory and Sabr.
Self destruct, I think you said? Not much power needed for a very minor signal. I was actually thinking something more along the lines of a “commencing bombardment” message, but this actually makes the most sense.
Kinda? I guess I did?
I more or less outlined why an explosion from the suit would be unlikely. Or kind of… that I was hoping it wouldn’t be an explosion? But it was, yet it wasn’t from the venue I was focusing on, so it actually turned out a lot better.
I think almost everyone basically forgot about the Strato-Armory (aside from the author, of course), including the heroes. This is actually one of the most logical contingencies I’ve seen in a comic, & it makes a lot of sense from a design standpoint: low-power, physical-key command, retrieve both agent & (highly secret) equipment and GTFO (probably with a preset bug-out destination).
I was thinking about how Jan explains her condition to her family without giving away her identity, but then it hit me: she’s actually SUPPOSED to be there, this time! As part of her normal “day job”!
If she can get her head on straight (or better yet, go on habit, from her years of doing this), she should be fine.

Okay, the fallout.
I *thought* that “deet” didn’t bode well…
At least the “deet” didn’t end in an explosion.

Dat “deet” did da deed, it did.
I thought it was going to be a teleportation escape, but that works too!

Hur Hur.♫ Metroid retrieval system eh?

I gotta say, I really like this page.
Yeah, I was expecting a Predator-style countdown then mini-nuke. But, I guess emergency evacuation is a good wrist-tech-option, too.
