@SidekickMatt: I doubt there’s a “cost”, exactly. Seems like a purely mental toll. I’m guessing that either it feeds off of dangerous emotions or she learned it from someone she’d rather forget.
Hmm, regarding the ‘cost’ of using her Ki attack, she did mention that she nearly went to far and almost tried to kill Sabr.
Perhaps tapping into that energy puts her in a sort of ‘kill or be killed’ mental state? Very much a last resort sort of technique if one is hoping to be a non-lethal superhero.
Note that her right arm is bandaged. I’d say that, whatever else was involved, she injured herself with that strike. I won’t presume to know the mental toll involved, but the physical toll is there.
Also, there’s the “I heal quickly…” “…I hope.” If Chi or Ki is life force then using it in a destructive manner like that could have long term health consequences. It may also be like The Force, and she has taken a step towards the Dark Side.
Or like Ki or Chi she is able to generate a baseline amount that she can store to some specific amount but when going all out she has taken the limiters off the battery and when you do that there is a chance of damaging the battery.
Nuuuuuuuh I reached the end T_T
Guess I have to wait now … ah well
This comic is fantastic, great characters, love the art, really good writing 🙂
And it’s Christmas, so off to Patreon I go 🙂
Seems like her life is built on a lie I mean her husband does not even know the real her. He thinks she is some delicate flower. I don’t claim to know much about relationships, but that does not seem like it would work.

Mark looks weird on this page. Also, now it feels like he knows.
Now I’m curious of what exactly the cost is of using that super-chi punch.
Me too, this is intriguing.
DUN DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!
Maybe it’s time for Miss Melee to learn how to be a mom and put the foot down on her daughter :p
