Aww the rook, the juggernaut of chess, barreling down the board in quick fassion.
Though it it’s anything like the pawn from before, (and has the equivalent chess-peice weakness like it had) then a simple sidestep or feint followed by a quick counter could take it out fairly easily.
IIRC, Brazilian ninjas like to jump around (Guerriera first appeared perched atop a carnival “Test Your Strength” pole”) so I would have figured a knight for a better stylistic match, particularly since I would expect Brazilians to incorporate at least a little capoeira into their ninjitsu.
It also depends on how well the Booty Queen built/programmed it, of course. MM didn’t even break a sweat dismantling the pawns, so unless the Rook has upgraded hardware AND software it isn’t going to last long. And I sincerely doubt EQ has anything like the resources that produced the SABR suit, so this is probably going to be a one page fight, possibly with pieces still airborn on the next page.
If suspicions previously expressed about her identity prove to be correct, she may have had /exactly/ the same resources that produced the SABR suit. She just needs to work after hours. 🙂
In panel 1 it looks as if Queen Evil is using her scepter to send out activation signals to the Rook. Will MM notice and snag the controller to short-circuit the fight?
As a rook, it can only attack ahead, behind and beside. It is vulnerable to attacks from a diagonal. Evil Queen needs to create a mechanical Queen, that can attack in any direction, but her ego will not let there be two queens on the board.
The album is called “Chess”, and the artist is named Murray Head. The song, “One Night in Bangkok” had been getting some play on my favorite oldies station lately. ^_^
If the pawn was the general uses bot. Could be upgraded to
The rook is the strong brawl fighter.
The knight might end up as either a weapon user (sword and shield kind of thing) or the mounted type (wheels, threads or jet pack) for mobility. An upgrade would be combine those two concept.
This doesn’t look good for Miss Melee….!

This should be interesting. And will Miss Melee recognize the martial arts the Rook has been programmed with?

So, I’m figuring that it will last… what, a minute, optimistically?
Was just about to say ‘Watch her No Sell this thing in one panel’.
20 seconds, tops.
Cheeky.
Panel 3, my thoughts exactly.
Mama villain could make bank doing photoshoots. Just sayin’.
MM’s likely to wreck the rook, but will the Evils escape again? Stay tuned…
The rook? What next? The knight? The bishop?
Of course! Why should she stop now she’s on a theme roll?
Sooner or later we’ll see a new chess piece to our board, though I do not know what it will be.
Discworld already has an Assassin. I wonder what a bard or mage would be?
*smiles* Remember to think outside the box. 🙂

Nope, that’s always been there. Alright, moving on.
If I take your meaning, it’s certainly an interesting choice of costume design. To distract hetero male and gay female adversaries, perhaps? 😉
Fortunately, Miss Melee gets her kicks above the waistline. Or places them there.
Yeah, I suspect any strikes that landed there wouldn’t have much im… y’know what, I’m gonna stop myself. XD
*sigh*
Subtle song reference was too subtle. Dropping subtlety slightly.
Queen Evil will get Thai’d; Miss Melee’s not a tourist,
but her every move’s among the purest.
I have absolutely never, ever heard of that song before, but I appreciate what you’re attempting to do.

And then she just steps to the side and it crashes into a wall
They’re getting a lot of mileage out of Evil Queen’s curves, aren’t they?
Are you kidding? I half expect to see a small rock in orbit of her ass.
the real question is, does she smell what the Rook is cookin?!
It’s a robot, so MM doesn’t have to hold back – she could use… “it”, and not worry about hurting anyone.
Robot = SCRAP in short order.

The bishop however… long range? AOE?
I give the robot a minute before Miss Melee beats it.
Damn she’s a big girl, evil queen with an evil ass 😉
