Ah, yes, excellent ideas, send the robot to fight the girl who understands technology and have the girl who was having trouble with the less experienced martial artist fight the much more experienced one.
More like she’s sending the robot who is fast enough and strong enough to give Miss Melee difficulty (remember that she estimated that if the Rook could hit her even once, she’d be out) after the much less experienced Kid Melee. One hit, even if KM blocks, and the odds would be stacked against MM.
Kid, if you knew just what you just attacked there, you’d be on your hands and knees begging for mercy. What she did to Lord Kharva, she could very easily do to you if you get her mad enough!
Exactly: the rook is strong enough to one-shot MM even if not fast enough to land a hit, so with MM distracted even for a moment and KM surprised as well this could get ugly for the heroes.
The Rook looks to be powering up some variety of cyclopic gazer beam, which the gymnastic sidekick is well suited to dodge, especially since, as Danelsan mentioned, she’s technically inclined as well as a superhero fangirl teenager who would instantly expect that kind of thing.
And EL can’t even hit MM with a sucker-sweep, note the casual dodge. MM may just casually swat Evil Lass aside or even flat out ignore her to hammer the Rook while it targets KM.
Up until now, Jan has seen having Jackie along on patrols as just family fun time — she feels she can handle anything that comes along (she’s been succeeding on her own for many years) so she can keep Jackie safe while KM plays assist.
However, suddenly this fight has the very formidable Rook, which even MM found dangerous and hard to handle, making a beeline for KM, while MM is pinned down dealing with Evil Lass. Jackie is in serious and imminent peril. It’s not a game anymore.
To save Jackie, MM is either going to grab KM and bail out, or she’s going to go full Mama Bear Berserker Mode without holding back, mauling every MFer (and robot) in the room that poses a risk to her child.
Either way, she’s going to have a lot of issues to deal with in the aftermath, and may try to terminate the Kid Melee program for protective reasons.

I’m sure it will work brilliantly.

Miss Melee is too merciful to go full power on Kid Evil. It is actually an interesting tactic.

Kudos to the person who predicted that K.M. would headbutt her in the teeth. Also, this mix-up was unwise, to put it lightly.

I would not postulate ignoring her and more likely making use on an annoyance to take out Rook.
Possible visual – Grab EL by the ankle and swing her like an Olympic hammer at EQ effectively putting to head together.
Switch your partners, to and fro, in a villaunous dosie-do…
Castling: where the queen and the Rook switch places. They are really pushing the chess theme!
No, castling involves the KING and a rook…
So, EL is the King …
^_^
Heh. I think they just castled.
