I can’t decide, is he going to be annoyed that she didn’t tell him with all those hints. Or is he going to laugh his ass off seeing it as a grand joke. Love this story, and all the characters.
Actually saying, “wink wink, nudge nudge,” is just about the only way he could be more obvious at this point, so I’m guessing he’s seeing how long he can poke at the facade until she realizes he knows.
“When we teach Jackie to drive…? Oh, yeah, future tense! Yeah, we’ll do that!”
FWIW, I would have designed an optional sidecar mode for the KidCycle anyway, just in case Miss Melee wants or needs to take control of both vehicles for difficult or dangerous manoeuvres. This would also free up Kid Melee to take control of the tactical systems as a sort of gunner/systems operator.
Now, I wonder how many videos there are on the Internet now of Miss Melee training her sidekick to ride a bike?
Actually, what gets me is the end of that sentence, “Miss Melee did teaching her kid.” It has not been acknowledged that Kid Melee is related to Miss Melee, except to those that know of the relationship, that is Jan and probably her husband.
Since this is a private phone call, if Jan calls him on it (no one else can without admitting to tapping a phone) he can say he just assumed it, since Miss Melee would never endanger someone else’s child. ^_^
Huh… The motorcycles have license plates? If they’re legit, I wonder how Mark managed to pull that off. Even in a world of Masked Vigilantes, Minor Superpowers, and Mad Science, the DMV will always be “The DMV.” π
The ’66 Batmobile had plates and Batman is a law unto himself. Mark isn’t Batman, but I guess he must have connections, running a mechanic’s shop. π
They’re probably registered to Mark’s garage as a point of contact. I don’t know about the US but here in the UK you can register your vehicle to a ‘point of contact’ address that isn’t your residence, only your mail drop.
Street Address only, (P.O. Boxes not allowed), for personal vehicles. Business-Owned vehicle registration would be tied to an address the business maintains. For example my employer, Covenant Transport, is based in Chattanooga, TN. But for cost-saving and tax purposes, all of our tractors are registered in Indiana.
Hopefully, Mark doesn’t have to go that far, especially as he got vanity plates for the bikes. π

I like how he makes a point of paying his wife a compliment while still being able to pretend he doesn’t know it’s her.

Additionally, the girls’ reaction in panel 1 is both hilarious and heartwarming at the same time!
It’s kind of too bad his mechanic’s duds are too blue to match MM/KM in panel oneβ¦
A sidecar for Kid Melee, should it been similar to the one Robin rode in back in 1966,with a detachable go-cart?
Bam! Called it about that side car!
Maybe they could split the difference and do something like Tiger & Bunny’s Wild Tiger, who has a motorcycle-that-becomes-a-sidecar deal?
If I remember correctly, the 1960s Batcycle had a sidecar for Robin that could operate as an independent vehicle when necessary.

Batman gets away with not using them on his vehicles…
