If you put a diamond in a tumbler with 100 chunks of talc, the diamond would eventually destroy all the talc and come out unchanged. 10 times better is a lot – an item is not the sum of its parts. If SABER is so superior that an OMA can’t even hurt it, then the number of OMAs means nothing.
The problem is, that “10x better” isn’t just a measure of hardness. Much more likely that it’s akin to a military simulation game’s victory points to judge balance. If the Keng Consolidate prototype is a match for ten OMAs, but costs so much that each one runs into one hundred OMAs…
On the other hand, How many OMAs can practically attack a human-sized target at the same time? If the “x 10” can maintain attacking where it is at an advantage, like 1 on 1 or even 1 on 5, it will decimate far more than a 100 before going down. But I admit, it isn’t cost-effective.
This experiment was run back in WWII. The Germans’ Panzer tanks were technically superior to the Allies’ Sherman tanks, but we had so damn many more Shermans that they couldn’t destroy ours fast enough.
Same experiment was done with Japanese airplanes during WW2. Japanese zeroes had a higher flight ceiling so we couldn’t shoot any of them down with our planes. We had to create a new plane in order to fight against them.
Love this comic! Just discovered it today and blasted through every page already out. Looking forward to more! This is definitely going on my list of webcomics to keep up with! Thank you for making it! ^_^
Is this scene meant to be a homage to the first Sam Raimi Spider Man movie? I remember there was a scene just like this where Green Goblin takes out an arms demonstration in the same way, almost shot for shot….
Heck, once a few enemies start fielding OMA’s of their own, our team will want the next big thing and the SABR would be a go. Guess somebody doesn’t want to wait.
Come to think, what with combined arms, I bet a case could be made for fielding both types of suits. Just like we have infantry and armor now.
And we’re about to encounter something way tougher that will wipe them out in seconds probably. judging by those lock on circles.
Well…mastery of martial arts VS Technology 10x better than the best the military has.
I’m guessing MM is facing a really difficult challenge in the near future.
10x better for 100x the cost is a bargain!! In major league baseball or professional golf the guy that is 2% better makes 100x the salary.
Not really, SABER wouldn’t stand a chance against a hundred OMAs. The ability to use tactics involving numbers would also be a factor.

Here’s a video of 3 Olympic fencers fighting 50 amateur fencers in Japan. Very cool. http://geekologie.com/2015/02/like-that-movie-300-3-olympic-fencers-vs.php

Never forget your gear is built by the lowest bidder-old soldiers saying
And cue villain attack.
I’m guessing the Man/Machine Interface is about to go from green to red, in those battlesuits.
Yay, this page was uploaded on my 25th birthday! ^^
