Less so than kicking from the front. Kicking the back of the knee may hurt a bit & knock you down, but from the front can seriously damage the kneecap &/or hyperextend the joint (tears ligaments such).
Everyone has weak points, and everyone talks big to mask them and demoralize an opponent. The bigger the talker, the more often this is true, I think.
I’m not saying Dula isn’t strong and tough, just that she’s maybe trying to make KM think she’s stronger and tougher than she is.
I’m not sure what that has to do with anything. It seems to me Dula would think demoralizing Kid Melee would be much easier due to her youth, making it MORE likely for Dula to use that tactic. Not less. Miss Melee wouldn’t likely fall for such a ruse, meaning if she tried it at all, she’d quickly abandon it as a waste of time. However, I am sure that Kid Melee is used to opponents trying to “get in her head” from her athletic competitions. You don’t become Best in the State if you are easily rattled. But Dula doesn’t know that.
OOOOH. Maybe KM is taking a page from Son Goku – launching a series of weaker attacks in an effort to probe Dula’s responses and defenses. From the panels above, KM is using what she learned training with Osakan Riot. Who knows what tricks she picked up during that montage.
They say practice is everything. They have got a lot to answer for. Then again, Dula may have had a lot of practice getting punched and kicked, if she has always been such an arrogant b(female dog)h.
That looks like it would be hard on a knee.
She’s a 14 year old girl, up against an older, much bigger, well trained opponent (and more trained than her), the only way she wins is plot armor. :p
Maybe she can dodge her all night long and tire her out?
Her mom will have to come to her rescue.

I thought that a sweep would come from the outside, possibly from a side as well. This looks like a frontal assault.
Note the foot hooked behind the knee. Ideally, this kind of kick forces the knee to bend, knocking the target down by removing a pillar of support.
Where’s a bazooka when you need one?
She kneeds to try harder.

Maybe if she was talking to MM. KM however is 14 years old.

To egg on MM, who I would think she’d really want to fight.
Exactly. Dula wants it over fast, while also expending as little fighting energy as possible. Ergo, demoralize Kid Melee into losing.

I’m thinking: How many nerve clusters does Jackie need to hit before Dula goes down like a felled tree?
