Reminds me of the rpg Masks. The game revolves around a certain city that has grown to accept big apocalyptic events like they would a heavy rain shower. It happens all the time.
Along that vein, I find myself wondering if Jackie’s phone alert came from a mundane news app set to go off whenever “breaking news” is announced in Metrovale, or if it’s an actual supervillain activity warning app marketed to regular citizenswho want to make sure they steer clear of such things. If it’s the latter I’d be willing to bet it’s put out by some local insurance company for free to minimize payouts for personal injury/car damage/etc related claims.
There’s a published Batman story, I’m fairly sure post-Flashback, in which either Gordon or Bullock comments to somebody else that they had got used to things happening to Gotham: “Sometimes it seems like every Wednesday”, or something along those lines…
(Obvious OOC joke there based on Wednesday being ‘new comics’ day each week.)
I’m pretty sure Jan was using the same tone when telling Jackie to knock it off and go home when she first started stalking her and declaring she was Miss Melee’s new sidekick. At this point I’m guessing MM is just being a stern mentor and is honestly concerned with her teenage sidekick wandering off on her own.
I still fully expect Jackie’s mind to blown when she finally learns who’s really behind that ridiculously small domino mask.

It probably says a lot about this town that a random explosion is most likley to be the work of some costumed theme villain!

How will Miss Melee disuade Kid Melee from this……!?
Third panel: use of “mom voice”? Chance that Jackie recognises this, once she’s had a little while to think about it?
