Eh. I like capes. I don’t think it would fit this particular character very well, but I like them in general.
Yeah, yeah, in real life they’d be more detrimental than helpful, but so is long hair, unprotected mouth and nose, and fighting multiple people with guns using only martial arts.
Not to mention boob windows. [The/a function of the boob window, btw, is to remind the reader “this is a comic, we’re having fun here, remember?” 🙂 ]
I like the character design you have with MM but my only complaint is the boob window, it happens to be right over the heart. One bullet and she’s in deep trouble. My heroine, Invisicat, had one but it was actually a clever illusion of invisibility on her behalf. If she were to ever get knocked out her entire appearance changes, she would get longer hair, her entire suit becomes opaque with the running stripes around the invisible parts. However, the suit was filled with the same style liquid as melee’s. It hardens on impact so it’s actually bullet proof. 😛 Shame I had to quit that comic due to the program eating my save files. *sigh* ah well. I moved onto other things. 😀
Does she wear thin cloth gloves over the fingers? I’d think that without something like that, she runs the risk of leaving fingerprints which could compromise her secret identity.
I agree with the no-capes. Though if she did want one for the aesthetics, she could use the idea my character had in a superhero game: Make a cape out of flimsy gauze cloth. More likely to blow in the wind, but tears away easily if it gets caught on something or grabbed. 🙂
So i just recently got caught up with the webcomic Magical Girl Neil, and noticed Miss Melee making an appearance in one page. Does this mean she exists in that world, or was it just a one off appearance? Because? I would LOVE to see a teamup!
[Adds another line from Janice]
“HEROINE: Martial Arts Maven Momma*”
*change to Milf if feeling sassy
Change to MILF if feeling suicidal.
On a more serious note, though, I REALLY like the character design you came up with for Miss Melee
Best part is, no capes!

Without pockets the boob window is necessary to hold her cell phone.
Her eyes are up by the forehead window, bub.
Shear thickening fluid. Why didn’t I think of that?

Miss Melee and Magical Girl Neil are totally different universes, these are just fun little cameos.
A teamup does certainly sound interesting…never say never!
Yeah, boob window. You men just can’t live without it. I wish all your supermen and batmen had had it, too.
