Fun fact, the pieces that are now bishops were originally ships, and their diagonal movement represents tacking (a method by which sailing ships zig-zag when sailing against the wind because they can’t sail directly against it). When chess started to become popular in Christian lands, the Church insisted on being represented in the game, and specifically with the piece that stands closest to the king and queen. Hence the ships became bishops.
It occurs that Bishops only move in straight lines, and that they would be no different than Rooks in this thematic – in free motion, a straight line is a straight line.
May I suggest the Bishop’s theme be *spinning* in straight lines? That would be on the skew, of a kind.
“Off with their heads!”
“No dessert for you tonight, young lady.”
“What did I do?”
“Snark at me.”
I’m getting flashbacks to the Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots toy…
Send in the bishops or knights! Or even better yet, the queen!
I suspect knights will be next; bishops stand closer to the king.

They knocked their own blocks off!

Anyone else hear the BZZZZzzzzzzz sound of Rock’em Sock’em Robots?
