It’s more like a Falcon Punch, IIRC. Energized punch rather than an energy projectile.
I think MM’s finally decided quit humoring Evil Queen by running her maze and will now be just walking in a straight line, just going through walls rather than around them. Because she’s tired of playing around and she can literally punch a tank to smithereens.
I was beginning to wonder if this world was populated by anything other than “non-powered adventurers” (aka Batman-type brawlers). Nice to see a POWER-power finally materialize in a supposed superhero universe.
It seems to be some variety of focused chi power, and she’s done it before. She used it to take down the SABR power armor and, in a flashback, her old nemesis, Lord Kharava. It’s the technique that Evil Queen referred to earlier in this arc when relating how Miss Melee supposedly literally annihilated him with a single punch. She hesitates to use it because she’s afraid of not being able to control it and killing someone.
And since she rarely uses it, most of her opponents incorrectly assume Ms. Melee is “just” a skilled martial artist. Meaning that when they cross a line (as Queenie has just done), most of them are going to be VERY surprised.
Not Queenie of course, she knew this COULD come up, but Ms. Melee’s skills are well documented, the chi-punch is decidedly less so. There certainly isn’t enough data out there for an accurate estimate; the question is whether Queen Evil assumed the worst.
Given the success rate of her robots to this point, this seems… unlikely.
It’s not just the Melees, it’s Osakan Riot as well (who’s gotten minimal screen time, and >her< daughter/sidekick even less). Now that I've been reminded of SABR, I'm trying to remember who else MM's fought, other than Brazilian Ninjas…might have to go back and re-read.
Interestingly, the pattern in panel two is reminiscent of a Knight’s movement. Also, it doesn’t seem that the ceiling blocks with the lights are dropping, leaving potential safe spots to stand while the figure out the pattern.
Though, an Chi-focused punch says, I’m don’t f’n around quite well. 🙂
Excuse me, Your Majesty? Your “boys” destroyed each other. And if you considered what you expected to happen to the Melees to be fun, then I expect to have great news of such fun in *your* immediate future. ^_^
What power does Miss Melee posses?
If the author were to use any of those public domain superheroes-the Melees should team up with the Black Terror and Kid Terror…!
Ha DO ken!

Quick! Call a time out!

I’ve been reading since the beginning, I’d forgotten about the SABR takedown, or at least that it had “special effects” associated with it.
Enter the Immortal Ironfist!
Huh, and here I was expecting Queen Evil to bring in the bishops instead.
You could say she is bringing down the heavens to try and take down the Melees.
Yeah, it’s a stretch, I know, but I’m tired right now…
The Bishop will be developed to cover the weaknesses of the Rook.
Kameleemelee! 😉
Boom! Boom! Out go the lights!

One-punch Mom!

What Jan needs is a pair of Space Ghost armbands to focus this power of hers…!
Hoo-boy! Looks like MM’s about to go Super-Saiyan… (or should that be Super-Melee… :p )
Beyond Melee? You mean… Ranged?!?!!?
