I wonder if this will de-install all the bulkier armored parts, leaving Sabr only with the “zero suit” which I think would not stop MM from knocking her out.
Am I understanding correctly that Jackie attached Naruto-esque fire tags to the missiles in the rack, to add their yield to that of the missile’s own warhead, and to add energy of two types (physical and magical)? Disregarding for a moment the impossibility of that working, because superhero genre. Now as the (unsuspecting) daughter of a super, I can buy mundane martial arts ability and personal durability being kicked up a notch when put to the test against a super-level opponent, but when did she learn ninja skills? She’s too young to have made an extended student-exchange trip to Brazil π
It’s a brilliant idea, what I mean by it “not working” is the physical action of launching the missiles. Missiles are sized fairly precisely to the tubes that launch them, adding that much to their diameter would cause them to jam, assuming you could even get them to fit back into the tubes! Also, the tags, being mere paper, might not survive either the heat of the launch exhaust, the friction of being shoved through the launch tube at a few hundred meters/sec and/or the air friction of travelling the few hundred feet. Unless magic? Also, making the missiles themselves asymmetrical and less aerodynamic means they wouldn’t fly straight or accurately! But why let details get in the way of fun storytelling?
Okay, tags are not paper. The pieces being sunshade was weeks ago, reading first-published in real time, how would I remember that, LOL. The rest of the comment still holds.
They’ve shown her being extremely athletic earlier, when she was at school. Combine that with her main hero being an actual superhero and her wish to become just like them, and you’ve got someone that’s trained since young with this type of combat in mind.
Also, don’t forget; the most superhero-thing you’ve seen her do is a backflip dodge with surprise element and the ability to think on her feet.
just found this comic a couple hours ago and read it from the start. its really good. i love the characters and attn to detail. you do a great job on all the subtlties that really play into the continuity. also the shredded aluminum from the sun blocker to scatter rx/tx signals was genius. jackie’s quick on the uptake. thanks for all your hard work i hope to be supporting the comic soon.
She fired chaff missles, creating what could probably be called a “Faraday Cloud” that pretty much blocks any kind of radio signal in the area of the explosion. And with something like matter-transmission, which has to have a huge bandwidth requirement, any kind of interference will play merry hell with it.
It’s probably one of the secondary reasons why the SABR project was shelved; any kind of interference negates the flexibility of the suit.
In WW II, bundles of aluminum foil were dropped to confuse German radar during Allied bombing missions. The British called it ‘Window’. The same principle applies here.
It’s called chaff, it was also used in Vietnam, and modern combat aircraft carry it as a defensive countermeasure against radar guided missiles, used more or less the same way as flares against heat seekers.
I hope Jackie can save the day, I mean it still looks like there’s more explosions than a Michael Bay movie movie.
Good onomatopoeia for a giant fire. π

She attached pieces of a reflective sunshade she found a few pages ago to the missiles, using the reflection to disrupt Sabr’s beaming process.

Still in a full parking lot?
Today looks like a bad day to be an insurance company…

Villainy, interrupted.

Timed mid-transmission, itβs likely less about preventing the process and more about crashing it. Love this series.
“I hope this works” is not a huge confidence builder right when your daughter launches a missile rack at you….
holy crap homemade chaff? i knew she was smart but thats simply genius
Chaff Grenade!
