If Saber’s next play is a self destruct explosion or ramming what ever’s up there clocked into them I wonder how they’ll get out of it. Could we see what happens when Miss Melee loses control or will another entity step in? Heck, it could even be an old adversary as some of them sounded like they could have had powers.
On the other hand, if Saber is running here, I suspect that her benefactor will either disposes of her or bring her to heel under their command.
More over, I really want to know more about Tim The Time Lord now.
I think running makes sense here. Preserve the equipment so the benefactor doesn’t have to start from scratch on version 2.0 and can learn from the damage done to the prototype suit.
IMO the “benefactor” almost certainly has all the info they need from the telemetry in the suit. At this point the suit and Saber may both be disposable. I would not put a self destruct that Saber doesn’t know about above them.
In a couple of weeks a new improved suit and another disaffected hacker or conspiracy theorist.
So, the old “From Hell’s heart I stab at thee” ploy? Don’t villains ever learn? It NEVER works. Unless, the suit is powered by an unlicensed nuclear reactor… But, I don’t think Jan’s boss would be that cruel and evil (besides, he would be in the blast radius).
Speaking of the boss, I wonder if he is the one that Miss Melee lost control fighting? Did it wind up sending both to the recovery room for a few years healing, with Jan thinking that he was dead? What will both think if/when they realize each other’s alter-ego?
Great job Jackie! Maybe Mom will consider provisional sidekick status with training, provided her grades don’t slip? And, how will their relationship change, especially with Jackie realizing that her Mom is really cool?
The “Uncle Ben” thing is along the lines of having the opportunity to do something and not doing it and bad things happen because of that.
The “loosing Control” thing is more along the lines of beating the bad guy in battle and continue on beating on them till they are “destroyed” or continuing the attack [rampage/auraofdeath/etc] and hurting innocents.
Specifically, yes, but more generally, she had some kind of bad experience related to the use of her powers that caused her to view them with caution and respect.
Another term for it might be a “Gwen Stacy” moment… but we don’t know if anyone died because of it, so that might be a similar level of inaccurate.
It’s kind of subtle, but she hasn’t been pushing any buttons before now. I have a feeling that the damage to the suit is sufficient that the primary control systems are non-functional (my guess is the helmet crest has something to do with that). Backup controls usually kick in because of combat damage, making redundancy a must. There’s probably several of those buttons in various locations across the suit.
The only thing I can think about for that button is some kind of self-destruct explosive…
but the suit has lost so much of its energy that the buildup would require more than 20-25% to do so, judging by the amount of drain from the prior attacks, and the size of damage.
I’d estimate the reserves to be under 10%
After two transformations and an energy battle that left her at around 50%, then…
She transformed once, and had a second one completely destroyed (all of the energy for transformation was consumed instead of recycled), and then there was a physical battle.
PLUS! The arm was destroyed. Energy storage would have to be distributed across the entire suit, so any part that breaks would result in complete loss of energy there. That arm held a beam cannon (if I’m not mixing arms up), which would require a lot of standby energy to operate.
That’s actually a phenomenally bad place for a button – near the hands on a melee combat attachment, which is INTENDED to be coming into contact with things.
But of course, that’s where it would need to be to be pushed in a situation like this, so if the plot calls for it…

Would she even see the tipster form before as her benefactor?

Jackie done it, she impress and save her hero.
The question is, did she save her hero from death or from herself?

Wait, what’s all this about Jan’s boss having an alter ego?
I think it was issue #2 where her boss wonders why Miss Melee has resurfaced. I’ll need to check too, but it was her toughest enemy.
Oh, you’re right, he was doing that. It doesn’t directly state that he’s the same person, but there is a certain implication, I won’t deny it.
“Deet”? That doesn’t bode well…
And now we at last get a clue as to why she doesn’t use the awesomeness more often – she had some kind of “Uncle Ben” moment.

This is the part where MM loses the mask and it’s all revealed
Oh no! She’s repelling mosquitos with Deet! How villainous!
Also, why is the button on the arm that was conveniently not broken?
