I wounder if this will lead Janice to contact her old master, Chin? It seems like the best thing she could do at this point is make sure her daughter is properly trained and I think doing it herself will turn out to be to much for her to handle.
Now, the training begins. The masks come off, Jackie gets the shock of her life. Janice’s blood pressure spikes as she deals with this new development. But, she comes to accept it as Jackie proves her worth.
I agree with ether: will she tell her husband. Will he help design new tac-gear with Jackie’s help?
Time will tell.

I think this is both sad and guilty face to a degree in the sense “I failed to shield my child from danger” or “it is my fault, my daugther wants to be like me”.
If she really wants to discourage Jackie, she could try revealing her identity. Sometimes teenagers find stuff less interesting when their parents are doing it. After all, she’d have to reconcile the idol she looks up to being the same person forcing her to do chores and study homework.
Indeed. Take the mystique off. And if Jackie sticks, it gives her a more legitimate edge for the “do your homework” thing. Unfortunately, it could also backfire, giving Jackie a “you do it, why can’t I” argument.
Jackie’s really little. Especially given that she’s got those skate-boots on. Shoulder high on her mum and she must be a good two feet shorter than the General!
Well, one thing’s for sure, nobody is gonna want that experimental nano armor now.
It has no failsafe, and the company that produced it couldn’t even shut it down. On top of that, it was so easily “compromised” that anyone viewing it would realize the security for this thing must be moot.
It doesn’t matter what the real stats or security for the device are. The company that made it is likely to be shut down, if there are any regulatory processes in this world.
Janice should be a parent and put the kibosh on this whole thing before it even starts. It’d be better to crush Jackie’s dreams than to risk her getting injured or worse. However, I doubt it’ll play out that way.
If I remember right, Osakan Riot (Jan’s friend who is also an ex superhero) mentioned that she started as Miss Melee when she was about the same age that Jacky is now.

Sad and worried mom face! I wonder if Janice will spill the beans to her husband or not.

Welp no way out now, she will HAVE to accept a sidekick now!
Yeah, its a done deal now. There will be resistance Im sure but Kid Melee is now a thing.

Honestly, I suspect her husband has known for a long time – the reveal would be him NOT being surprised.
Mostly, that’s just a gut feeling, but some of the bits around when she brought her bike into his shop could be supporting material.

I love the focus effect in the last frame! Great job!

Jeez. Jackie is TINY.
Boy if I had a nickel for every time I declared myself someone’s sidekick and they said “No You’re NOT!”

Already caught up…. Guess I’ll kill myself!

Also, it’s a little hard to made such arguments when you yourself disregard them.
What do you mean ?
