well in theory if she had enough momentum and maybe it helped that she didn’t see it coming. She kind of only tipped slightly and basically just dropped what she was holding. so it’s semi plausible. We haven’t really seen the armor take any direct hits, I think, so we don’t really know how tanky it is. It’s very good on the offense but defense is questionable.
we have to assume the black part is some kind of flexible armor, otherwise the armor would be trumped by the old fallback of ‘idiot with a machine gun’
It doesn’t work despite Newton’s law, it works *because* of it.
The gymnast has a built-up momentum, making the impact greater, + Sabre is holding something really heavy, in one arm, right up.
Also, Sabre is standing straight, totally unprepared for the sudden turbulence, making the impact more effective.
And finally, the strength is in the ARMOR, not in its wearer, making Sabre more likely to tilt from sudden turbulence.
And yes, it was only turbulence, Sabre was not shaken per se, and she was of course certainly not harmed, the impact only caused her to tilt slightly, enough to distract her into losing the grip on the car that tilted forward more, but that was also the extent the impact had:
Distration and the car going forward into forced release.
I agree with Catelf, though with one minor change. The center of gravity would have been above Sabre’s head, so if she got hit from the left, then her center of gravity should have moved to the right, outside the car’s center of gravity, meaning that the car should have fallen to the left, not to the right.
So, yeah, Sabre should have been fairly easy to knock off balance due to being an upside-down pendulum with all that weight over her head, but the car should have fallen the other direction.
Good point, but if we assume the grip the armored hand has is very sturdy, and that the armor is not designed for “bending backwards” (as you see, it tilts forward on impact, quite rigidly) then the car would get a momentum to the right rather than the left.
Also, Sabre lowers her hand holding the car as a reflex, also adding to the direction of the car to the right.
The RSS feed is still not working correctly. Its address should be http://miss-melee.com/feed/ but it isn’t. Somehow, the issue number is getting inserted into the address so that it reads http://miss-melee.com/issue-number/feed/ where “issue-number” is the current issue. So it changes every week, which breaks my RSS feed.
I’ve also just noticed the the “last” button does not point to the latest issue, but rather to the next issue, irrespective of whether or not the next issue is, in fact, the latest issue.
It should be fixed now. You may or may not need to resubscribe your particular RSS feed.
Both of the problems you experienced were tied to the remnants of a caching plugin that did not delete properly and has been causing those issues since late July. We’ve been working hard to get it fixed and I think we finally did. If you do experience further problems please let us know.
Bet she didn’t expect a surprise question i fer first supper-villain fight, she’d better have prepared a good name! (Or t lease something better than Daughter Disturbance)
We’re going to get her name next week?
105lbs gymnast shakes the woman wearing reinforced armor and holding up a Buick with one hand? LOL
I’m totally suspending my belief in Newton’s laws because of love these comics!

Momentum + catching her in the squishy unarmored part. That suit isn’t all armor, and anyone getting tagged in the back like that is going to feel it.

It worked because she hit Sabr in the butt.

Yes! The asspunch we were all waiting for!
Looks more like an elbow to the lower back to me, but… eh, close enough.

I didn’t have to resubscribe. Also kind of nice to get a bunch of pages at once. And hi again, keep the good stories coming. 🙂
Thanks. That fixed it, without any need to resubscribe.
How about Dame Dispute?
Speaking of names, I wonder if Miss Melee has something like a “Mister Ranged” among her rogues gallery…
You mean someone like Mr Missile? [NSFA]
Maybe Snap Shot the gun bunny who doesn’t have to look at his target to hit it? Think DD but with phaser effect pistols.
How about Slap Shot the hockey enforcer type whose nom-du-plume is a puck to the head. Or was I thinking of Crowbar Benson?

*in her
damn keyboard
I’m Brawl Baby!
“I’m the new Miss Melee! The old one’s changing her name to Mrs. Melee!”
“WHAT?!”
