They could all be part of a multi-fasted cat gang with each branch or group differentiating itself thematically but all joined in their feline obsession. Now, I know you thinking “Hey, you know that there’s no way that’s going to turn out to be the case.” and my response is that I just wanted to BS a little for funnies.
Considering he seems proficient with that bo staff it seems a fair enough moniker….except that “polecat” is a slang term for a skunk, which is actually a variety of weasel, not a feline.
Let’s not be too hasty to declare him proficient… all he’s done so far is trip someone up, then catch their wallet with it. I doubt he’s competent enough to avoid a much-needed beating.
Yeah, this is definitely Mask City, like the one in Mystery Men. I bet that everyone who wants to either get rich or just wants to become a big name finds themselves a mask and a gimmick; either as a villain or a hero. I mean, I get the feeling that these guys are scraping the bottom of the theme barrel!
This is why I’m expecting them to encounter Anne and Abby Adams in costume at some point. Family bonding through theme vigilantism or theme crime! It just seems to be the thing that you do in that city!
I wonder how many ones with pretensions of being able to fly the cops have had to pick out of the side-walk? (Yes, a Kick-Ass reference)
A different ‘Polecat’ appears briefly as a comic-book character (who may or may not be real in that version of reality, as some of its other comic-book characters “really” exist there) in an issue of one title or another in the ‘Die Kitty Die!’ stories…
… female, scantily clad, and pole-dancing…
Night Lion. Cool Name. His Hoodie makes him look like he has a mane and he is a night thief. I get it. Saw a theme and went with it. Though if I see him working daytime shifts, I will be upset…
Lotus Lynx. Cool Name. She went with alliteration, though I wonder where the Lotus comes in, is it a style, does she have a symbol of a lotus. Pass for alliteration
Midnight Owl. Cool Name, poorly done, he wasn’t even revealed at Midnight, if your gonna have a name, especially if its to do with time. STICK TO IT!!!
Polecat…. Wait what? What is with the naming convention of these people, I give a pass to Miss Melee, alliteration is cool. BUT COME ON!!! Polecat? Where did he get the theme for this costume/name!
Polecat could team up with a group including weasels, badgers, otters, stoat, martens, mink, and wolverines etc.
They could have a lair, and employ someone dressed as a ferret as a butler/maid… because ferrets are domesticated polecats…
(sorry, not sorry… )
Is this group related to Leo Rex’s Pride?
I doubt it, the Pride didn’t use costumes; they were just savage humans with feline-like anatomical features; closer to werecats than anything else.

“That name is terrible, I’m going to have to take you down just for that.”
+1 Zing!
A Spider-Man-worthy quip!
A feline-themed villain group? How catty of them.
“Polecat, Mrs Selina Wayne called. Your gang are apparently violating someone else’s trademark.”

He also used the staff th pull his mugging victims wallet from his pocket. That’s pretty deft.
Wallet fell out of pocket. You can see it in the second panel.
Well, THIS guy’s codename really stinks.
Aw, man! I wish I had thought of a villain named Polecat!

That’s some crazy Armenian guy that went off his meds.
Pole cat?
Pole cat.
POLE. CAT.
Well at least he’s not preventing people from voting.
Then he’d be a Poll cat.

^_^
Pole Cat! Get it?! cause he uses a pole? and he’s dressed like a cat! Get it?! Pole Cat!
Yeah, I know. Depressing isn’t it? I’m sure he thinks it is the highest of wit, which says bad things about this gang’s level of intelligence.
Their level of intelligence is about to go down due to Melee-induced concussions.
Ok… So….

Ironically, real polecats are a type of mustelid.

This makes me wanna create my own character called Pole Cat but base him on a skunk since that is want polecat is slang for in the South.
Please tell me he will have a horrible french accent.
